Toronto may not be the capital city of Canada, but there’s no denying that it’s certainly one of the most diverse, interactive, and structurally mesmerizing cultural hubs this country has to offer. Complete with tons of tourist attractions, seasonal festivals, and countless family-friendly events, there’s no shortage of fun activities to take part in while visiting Toronto this winter. And if you’re planning on moving to Toronto permanently, then you can also check out some of the year-round events that’ll be taking place in your soon-to-be new home!

What It’s Like Visiting Toronto in the Winter

From late November until mid-March, Toronto is a stunning and whimsical winter wonderland filled with lots of awesome winter activities to help keep you warm as the snow continues to fall. Streets are covered in powdered snow (which eventually turns into slush) and storefronts are adorned with lovely holiday decorations, sometimes even a few weeks into the New Year.

For those of you who aren’t accustomed to the cold weather, it’s important to bundle up and dress very warmly. However, you should also know that even though Toronto winters are notorious for being blistering cold, there are some milder days mixed in as well.

If you’re wondering what you can do while visiting Toronto during the post-holiday winter months, there are still plenty of fun and thrilling activities afoot!

Ice Skating

Believe it or not, there are tons of ice-skating options throughout the city including Nathan Phillips Square (home of the popular multicoloured Toronto sign), The Bentway (located just below the Gardiner Expressway), and even the Harbourfront Centre Natrel Rink just to name a few. Some of these outdoor rinks offer skate rentals, while others might not so it’s important to check their web sites before making any plans.

Winterlicious

Visiting Toronto in the winter isn’t complete without participating in Winterlicious activities. Winterlicious is an annual event that runs from January 25-February 7. Participating restaurants offer a multitude of pre-fixed menu items that’ll get your taste buds tingling and keep your belly warm and full this winter.
