St. Martin/Maarten St. Martin/Maarten is not just a place of relaxation. The island offers many activities for children… young and old.

Island Fun
Soar through the rain forest by Zip Line at the Loterie Farm. Located near Colombier, this is a great adventure for all ages. There are two zip lines that go through the rain forest, one for small children and a harder one for teens and adults. There are restaurants on site, so make a day of it. Lots of fun, and a good “workout” on the adult course. Remember to wear shoes that tie up… no sandals or open toes.

Flutter on over to the Butterfly Farm. Located at the top end of the island by Orient Beach, this enclosed farm is great fun for children of all ages, and includes full education on butterflies. The butterflies are everywhere, and will even land on your hands and shoulders.

Water Sports
For those feeling the need for speed, take a spin around St. Martin/Maarten in a Scarab speedboat. Enjoy the beauty of the island from the water, with 700 horses, and a top speed of 65 mph.

Rhino Safari is a 2 ½ hour water fun-filled tour by small rubber boats, 2 person per boat, gives you a fully tour of Simpson Bay Lagoon and you see the island from the water, then they take you out to the Caribbean Sea for snorkelling. Fun day for all including kids. Leave valuables at home as there is no lockers. Dock is located behind Pineapple Pete Restaurant which is past the bridge to the lagoon.

Aqua Mania Adventures offers water fun for all ages. Trips available include: Saba for hiking and world-class diving, St. Barts to see the life-styles of the rich and famous, or the British Sisters “Anguilla and Prickly Pear”, boasting powder white beaches and reefs with thriving marine life. With sunset dinner cruises for adults, floating playgrounds for children, and a variety of watersports, there is indeed something for everyone.

Scuba diving is an often-overlooked way to see a completely different side of the Caribbean. Even though much of St. Maarten’s reef close to shore was destroyed by hurricanes, there are still some canons from the Fort Amsterdam, and some fascinating wrecks to explore. Newcomers can learn how to scuba dive in just three hours. Discover Dive Safari.

Boat lovers and sailors alike will enjoy the regattas of St. Martin/Maarten. The Heineken Regatta takes place in March, while the Captain Olivers Regatta takes place in May. Don’t miss out on the island’s national sport!

Carnival in St. Martin/Maarten is fun, safe and eventful. Carnival is a surprisingly serious affair in the Caribbean. The Grand Parades proceed down Front Street, following the luridly decorated floats towards Carnival Village. Nighttime concerts are a source of Latin, Calypso, Rap and Reggae music. Load up on face paint, strap on some sneakers, and hit the tarmac!
