Christmas in Toronto truly is one of the most magical times of the year! All of the festive lights, the enchanting music, and the family-friendly fun activities give the city an irresistible romantic quality that attracts countless tourists every single year. If you’re planning an extended stay in Toronto this holiday season to visit family and friends, then there’s no shortage of amazing Christmas activities to keep you occupied! As a courtesy, we’ve gathered a list of some of the most popular and enticing holiday-themed festivals and activities that you can take part in during your trip to Toronto this year!

The Toronto Christmas Market

Set in Toronto’s historic Distillery District with its lovely cobblestone paths and well-kept Victorian-style buildings, there’s nothing more charming than spending a day or evening at the Christmas Market. Filled with a festive atmosphere including spectacular light shows, interactive exhibitions and art installations, delicious artisanal food created by local eateries, and cute little shops, this is one of the most famous Christmas markets in the entire world. Admission is free during the week, but since the Christmas Market is a not-for-profit organization, there’s a $6 entry fee starting Friday evenings at 5:00 p.m. until Sunday. The market is open for five weeks from November 15 until December 23, 2018.

Aurora Winter Festival

This holiday season, you and your family can escape to a whimsical hidden village inspired by the North Pole. With plenty of delicious food, jaw-dropping light shows, amusement rides, and charismatic characters, you and your kids can have an unforgettable time visiting Santa’s workshop, skating on the frozen pond, going tubing, and making memories in the entertainment tent! The festival runs from November 29 until December 30, but tickets are selling out quickly, so if you are moving to Toronto and plan on visiting, be sure to get yours as soon as possible!

Go Skating at Nathan Phillips Square

Since 1965, families have been spending their winter days skating and eating delicious street food at Toronto’s famous Nathan Phillips Square. Whether you’re planning on temporarily or permanently relocating to Toronto sometime soon, Nathan Phillips Square is one of the biggest attractions you need to check out with your loved ones. With its decked out and colourful Toronto sign and close proximity to old city hall, there’s a lot to do on the corner of Queen Street West and Bay Street this holiday season!

Casa Loma Nutcracker Christmas Nights

Spend a magical evening in North America’s only castle. Built in the early 1900s by Sir Henry Pellatt, Casa Loma is a historic landmark in Toronto that hosts a number of fun-filled events throughout the year, particularly around the holiday season. Casa Loma Nutcracker Christmas Nights is an extravaganza that’s not to be missed by the most ardent Christmas lovers! Packed with a comprehensive holiday outdoor market and beautiful lighting displays, you can wander through the stunning outdoor gardens and take in the splendour of Casa Loma at night! This is one of those attractions that makes moving to Toronto worthwhile!
